Charlie undertakes ecological surveys and provides ecological advice through the planning process, construction and monitoring.

Charlie has a degree in Conservation Biology, from which he has gained a strong understanding of the current threats to biodiversity, the practical aspects of scientific research and report writing.

He has successfully completed an intensive ecology focused traineeship with Wessex Water, which allowed him to develop a sound understanding of Biodiversity Net Gain, ecological surveying, habitat management, and wetland design, creation and enhancement. During this time, Charlie developed his skills in ecological report writing and GIS mapping.

After starting with Nicholas Pearson Associates in March 2023, Charlie has a working knowledge of bat sound analysis and ecology and has been at the forefront of bat surveys over the busy survey season.

Project Experience

As part of the Bristol Avon Catchment Market Project, Charlie has worked alongside The Wildlife Trusts (Wiltshire and Avon) and Entrade to implement nature-based project on the ground, including pond and grassland creation and tree planting.

During his time with Nicholas Pearson Associates, Charlie has undertaken species surveys for a range of projects across the Southwest, including Grade I listed building restoration projects, large scale housing developments and barn conversions.

Career History

  • Charlie joined Nicholas Pearson Associates in 2023. Previous to this, Charlie was employed by Wessex Water for a 6-month intensive traineeship program.
