This has been applied for projects located in a range of sensitive environments and designated landscapes, in urban, rural and coastal locations.

Understanding the site and development context and providing sensitive design solutions is a fundamental aspect of Simon’s approach to each project.

Project Experience

Simon has experience of landscape assessment, masterplanning and landscape design on a wide range of project types and scales. This has included strategic mixed-use and residential developments, such as at Priory Vale, Swindon, Stevenage and Daventry as well as for urban regeneration projects.

Infrastructure projects have included energy, waste and water management projects across the south of England. Education related projects have included university projects in Bristol, Bath, Oxford and Birmingham, as well schools in the Bath area. Heritage environment projects have included work for English Heritage and the National Trust.

Simon was part of the design team for Greenwich Peninsula, London Ecology Park which forms a key part of this landmark redevelopment project.

Simon has considerable experience of development projects in and around Bath, with its sensitive development context relating to the designations and policy context which includes the City of Bath World Heritage Site, Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Bath Conservation Area and the Bath and Bristol Green Belt.  Projects have included: strategic advice and landscape assessment of potential residential sites; Bath Royal United Hospital; flood management projects; transport projects including park and ride proposals; mixed use urban regeneration projects; student accommodation; riverside developments; schools; and leisure projects, including hotel developments, as well as projects for Bath Rugby and Bath City Football Club.

His experience also extends to developments in designated Green Belt. Projects have included strategic Green Belt assessment, as well brownfield site redevelopments and proposals for Green Belt release.

Simon’s considerable experience within the company’s multidisciplinary team allows him to provide strategic and proactive advice to clients and project teams with respect to maximising development opportunities with respect to landscape and the environment.

Career History

  • Simon has worked for Nicholas Pearson Associates since 1996. Simon was appointed as Managing Director in 2010 and is supported across the company’s business activities by the senior management team.  Prior to this he worked for SGS Environment (formerly Woolerton Truscott) in Durham and for Kelsey Associates in London. Simon has also worked as a Landscape Architect in Australia and New Zealand.
