EIA Transitional Arrangements

The transitional arrangements for the Town and Country Planning (Environmental Impact Assessment) Regulations 2017 mean that, depending on the circumstances, either the existing (2011 EIA Regulations, as amended) or new Regulations may apply – or a combination of the two.

It will be important for both developers and local planning authorities to understand which Regulations apply to a project and to keep track of this as projects go through the planning system.

We have prepared a handy guide to the arrangements in the graphic below, which can also be downloaded for future reference.

Nicholas Pearson Associates is an EIA Quality Mark registrant, and staff are IEMA Registered EIA Practitioners. We are well placed to guide you through the transitional arrangements and can advise on obtaining screening and/or scoping opinions ahead of 16 May 2017 and beyond.
