University Horticultural Officers visit Newton Park

Nicholas Pearson Associates was pleased to be invited to facilitate a walk and tour of the Newton Park Campus at Bath Spa University for the UK University Horticultural Officer Annual Conference, this month, organised and hosted by members from the University of Bristol.

Officers were welcomed by Head of Estates, Richard Jordan, and given a guided walk through the campus and historic park by NPA staff.

University Horticultural Officers visit Newton Park

The visit was principally to demonstrate the stewardship of the restored Capability Brown designed landscape of Newton Park, by Bath Spa University. The University has its main campus and teaching facility at Newton Park on the outskirts of Bath and has been working to restore the historic park landscape since the early 1990s. The development of the campus in the grade II* Registered Park and Garden and Green Belt setting has been guided by a Landscape Conservation Management Plan and a Phased Development Masterplan for the period to 2030, prepared and contributed to by ourselves.

As well as the Historic Park, the walking route included a review of the Bath Spa University Academic Development (8000m²) now nearing completion, and the Student Residential Accommodation (561 rooms) due for completion this summer.

Nicholas Pearson Associates continues to be active in project work in UK Higher Education.
