Hayesfield School has received planning consent for a new science, technology and mathematics (STEM) development on their Lower School site, within the World Heritage Site.
The proposals retained key trees and bat habitat, as well as providing inclusive access between the existing and proposed buildings, and flexible external spaces for education.
The development will allow the school to extend its provision of leading science, maths and technology teaching through a modern, integrated approach to learning. Sustainability will be a key driver for the new building which will visibly demonstrate low energy design, construction, materials and use to all users and act as a catalyst for sustainable thinking and initiatives for the whole school.
We undertook landscape and ecological appraisals, coordinated the arboricultural and designed the external areas. The development is now progressing onsite.
