Otters and Orchids thrive at Coopers Edge

Otters, orchids and owls are thriving at Coopers Edge, a 1900 home neighbourhood being created at the edge of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Plans for the development created a beautiful network of interlinked green spaces for residents and wildlife, including a restored open watercourse, new parks, ponds and reedbeds, protected ancient oak trees and SSSI wildflower meadows. Otters now use the brook and Barn Owls continue to thrive in adjacent replacement habitats (in one of the first successful schemes of its kind). The SSSI’s condition has been restored to good, and hundreds of Pyramidal Orchids also now flower in areas of parkland.

Nicholas Pearson Associates’ roles at Coopers Edge include ecological management and landscape design, having prepared the original environmental assessments and plans for the developers (Bovis, Persimmon and Barratt Homes). To find out more please contact Adam or Jamie on 01225 876990.
