The consultation period for Bristol City Council’s draft Urban Living Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) opened in August and runs until 25th September. Once adopted, the guidance will be applicable to all major developments, residential developments and tall buildings 30m high and above. The draft SPD provides guidance on design issues such as outdoor spaces, play spaces, tall buildings architecture, environmental quality and visual impact. These are central considerations to our urban project work at Nicholas Pearson Associates and the new SPD will give a new and wide-ranging benchmark for future city developments. We are using the consultation period to consider how we will put the emerging guidance into practice.
We have considerable experience in urban schemes in Bristol, such as University of Bristol’s proposed Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus, and extensive knowledge of townscape and visual impact assessments, the landscape and visual considerations associated with urban environments, and the design of quality urban living spaces. We keenly anticipate the final publication document later this Autumn.
