Planning permission has been granted by Bath & North East Somerset Council for a scheme of improvements to the front of the Main House, a grade I listed building, within the grade II* registered landscape of Bath Spa University’s Newton Park campus.
The consented proposals involve modifying the front lawns, reorganising and removing car parking, and replacing tarmac with more sympathetic surfacing, which will improve the setting of the listed building and parkland. It will also create wider pavements and shared spaces, relocate a pedestrian crossing, and provide new lighting that will improve pedestrian safety whilst ensuring the local bat population is conserved.
Nicholas Pearson Associates acted as lead consultant and prepared the planning drawings, the Design & Access Statement and accompanying visualisations. We also undertook bat surveys and assessments which resulted in a planning permission which secured a sensitive lighting scheme that is responsive to the specific needs of the project and place.
