Nicholas Pearson Associates is delighted to have helped secure Bath Press West planning permission for the redevelopment of the western part of the former Bath Press site in Bath.
The scheme received unanimous approval from Bath & North East Somerset Council’s Planning Committee and will regenerate a prominent brownfield site on Lower Bristol Road. The approved proposals will deliver an additional 122 homes in a highly sustainable and accessible location. They also respond sensitively to Bath’s distinctive historic townscape.
Our Role
We were involved throughout the evolution of the proposals. Our team provided early strategic advice on townscape and visual matters. Our team prepared the Townscape and Visual Impact Assessment (TVIA) and produced a series of Verified View Montages (VVMs) to support the planning application.
Verified Views are becoming an increasingly important part of the planning process. They help decision-makers understand how proposed development is likely to appear within its real-world context. They also provide confidence in the assessment of visual effects.
Specialist Visualisation Support
Working closely with the wider project team, our in-house specialist visualisation team at NPAVisuals prepared accurate and robust VVMs. These visualisations communicated the proposals clearly and transparently.
These visualisations played an important role during consultation and committee consideration. They helped stakeholders, consultees and elected members understand how the development would sit within the surrounding urban fabric and wider views of the site. As a result, they supported informed decision-making throughout the planning process.
Securing Bath Press West Planning Permission
The successful outcome demonstrates the value of combining expert townscape assessment with high-quality visualisation. By integrating these disciplines throughout the project, the team helped secure Bath Press West planning permission. This approach also supported constructive stakeholder engagement and informed planning decisions.
The approved development will bring forward much-needed new homes on a previously developed site. It also represents another important milestone in the ongoing regeneration of the wider Bath Press area.
