Bath Road Energy Centre Secures Approval, Strengthening Bristol’s Low Carbon Future

Plans for Vattenfall’s Bath Road Energy Centre have been approved by Bristol City Council, marking a major milestone for the city’s expanding heat network.

The new 13MW all‑electric facility will deliver low‑carbon heating and hot water to more than 7,000 homes and businesses, cutting emissions by up to 65% compared with gas systems. Situated beside Bristol Temple Meads, the centre will act as the engine room for the Temple Quarter regeneration area and forms part of the long‑term Bristol City Leap partnership.

Expert Landscape and Visual Assessment

Nicholas Pearson Associates supported the planning submission with a comprehensive Townscape and Visual Impact Assessment and AVR3 Verified Views. Working alongside architects Stidetreglow, our verified views helped officers understand effects on key routes, landmark skylines and elevated viewpoints across Totterdown and Bath Road. Together, the assessment and visualisations provided a robust, policy‑aligned evidence base, helping secure planning approval for this prominent gateway site.
