Aisa undertakes ecological surveys and provides ecological advice through the planning process, construction and monitoring.

Expertise

Aisa has experience of providing ecological advice throughout all phases of a project; from preliminary ecological appraisal though ecological impact assessment, production of management plans and practical mitigation and clerk of works duties during construction phases.

Aisa is experienced in the exploration of options for achieving biodiversity net gain and undertaking habitat surveys and condition assessment. She is also experienced in the identification of ecological opportunities and constraints as part of a feasibility assessments and the master-planning process.

She is competent in botanical survey and habitat survey using Phase 1 Habitat Survey and UK Habitat Classification systems She can undertake habitat survey and condition assessment to feed into biodiversity net gain metric calculations  and has experience of working alongside Landscape Architects and Masterplan teams. Aisa is also accredited .to undertake River Condition Assessments for biodiversity metric calculations

Aisa has been the named ecologist for a Hazel Dormouse mitigation licence and is licenced to survey for the species in England and Wales. She is also licenced to survey Great Crested Newt in England. In addition, she has experience of survey and mitigation for a range of protected species including bats, Water Vole, Badger and reptiles.

Project Experience

Aisa has a range of project experience across a variety of sectors. She has undertaken surveys and provided ecological advice for a development of 800 homes, local centre, supporting infrastructure and country park, to discharge outline planning conditions and support submission of full application. This work included  the production of Construction Environmental Management Plans for Biodiversity (CEMP: Biodiversity) and an Ecological Monitoring Strategy.

She has undertaken a Preliminary Ecological Appraisal and inspection of a building on the grounds of a disused school to provide ecological design advice and recommendations for further survey to progress the project.

Aisa has undertaken Biodiversity Metric calculations and produced Biodiversity Net Gain Information for a variety of projects including multiphase residential developments, development of employment land and solar projects.

She has coordinated ecological surveys for a development of up to 900 dwellings with associated open space and infrastructure to inform the production of a masterplan and in preparation for submission of Ecology Chapter of an Environmental Statement for an EIA. She undertook a walkover survey and bat activity surveys at the site and identified opportunities to deliver biodiversity enhancements on the site.

Career History

  • Aisa previously worked at ADAS and has experience working as an ecologist on projects for developers, planners, utility and rail companies and government agencies. Before this she worked in a range of nature conservation positions giving her a good working knowledge of ecology, countryside management, environmental management, planning policy and wildlife legislation.
