Bath City Centre: Pedestrian & Cycle Enhancements

The next phase of Bath public realm enhancements are to begin in early 2015 for two key city-centre spaces. These will be the first public ‘Shared Space’ schemes in Bath.

Our designs will transform Stall Street and Lower Borough Walls by raising the existing carriageway flush to the footway and repaving the whole street in Pennant stone. Vehicular access will be restricted between 10am and 6pm. Together, these changes will transform the character of the street and shift the balance of use to a more pedestrian-friendly retail environment befitting the World Heritage City.

Works to Seven Dials will also benefit from new natural Pennant stone and a flush surface design approach. The changes will reinforce the location’s historic importance as a gateway to the city centre. Wider enhancements will include the provision of contraflow cycle lanes and new signage.
