The development included a substantial new building as an extension to the existing school, with a full size sports hall, a 200 seat performance space, a new refectory and associated facilities.
Key elements of the external design comprised carefully considered landform and site levels to integrate the building with the landscape and provide good external access and circulation, a series of linked external spaces around the building and a biodiverse planting design which will provide year round interest. Also included in the design was a substantial native oak tree to replace a declining mature tree that had to be removed as part of the development.
We identified key design and planning constraints which informed the site layout and design. Our landscape and ecological appraisals and design work, in combination with the high quality photomontages we produced, formed part of the successful planning application.
The development was officially opened by Olympian Amy Williams.
