Ollie is a Graduate Ecologist with Nicholas Pearson Associates and is a Qualifying member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM). He undertakes protected species surveys, analyses data and contributes to QGIS mapping and written reports.

Ollie’s studies in biological science and previous voluntary positions have provided him with a solid understanding of habitats and species ecology. He has an interest in the protection and conservation of sensitive species and habitats.
He has experience undertaking a range of protected species surveys. Including for bats (emergence/re-entry surveys, activity transects, Preliminary Roost Assessment and Ground Level Tree Assessment), Great Crested Newts (bottle trapping, torching, egg searching, eDNA, pitfall trapping), Dormice and reptiles.
Outside of work Ollie is an enthusiastic wildlife photographer, which has helped develop his knowledge of and passion for UK wildlife, in particular birds and mammals.
Prior to joining NPA, as a part of his studies, Ollie has undertaken a few research projects, including his master’s thesis on behavioural ecology and evolution, as well as his undergraduate dissertation on the habitat use, diets and trophic niches of otters in Gower. These projects have developed Ollie’s skills in research methods alongside data analysis and report scientific report writing.
At NPA he has supported on a range of project work, including education, heritage conservation, commercial and residential led projects. As well as undertaking a range of protected species surveys, he has supported on projects through using QGIS to create maps and figures, writing sections of reports, analysing bat sound data and completing desk-based studies.
