The University of Bristol completes its refurbishment and modernisation of the Students Union Building.

We helped secure a successful planning consent by developing public realm and access enhancements. We provided the team with innovative design solutions and supported the client throughout the design and construction process.

Our design allowed a large street tree to be integrated into a new access route. We worked with the project engineer to develop a bridge structure over the existing tree root zone. The solution avoided the need to fell a significant feature of the Conservation Area whilst providing a fully accessible new route to the building.

The public realm was further enhanced by a new avenue of street trees, high quality paving and bespoke street furniture.

The design demonstrated that the Client could enhance the setting of this prominent and extended building within the City.
