Delivered as part of the Bristol Life Science Project, the external realm brief required the comprehensive renewal of the derelict former hospital site and the opening up of a new public space within the University.
Knitting together iconic buildings with architectural styles covering 5 centuries, the landscape creates a series of high quality paved civic spaces and thoroughfares, raised lawns, sweeping lines of trees, and delightfully planted intimate and restful seating areas.
The project forms part of the University’s Strategic Masterplan which we helped to develop with a multidisciplinary team. It was adopted by Bristol City Council in 2006 as SPD II.
