Verena has over six years’ experience as an ecologist and has a particular interest in botany. She provides services in protected species surveying, habitat assessment, Ecological Impact Assessment, and technical report writing.
Verena formed part of the team responsible for undertaking public use surveys for the meadows, and prepared reports outlining any changes to the meadow condition or recreational pressures on the site from year to year. As part of the project Verena advised on suitable measures to maintain the floral diversity of the grassland.
As part of the roll-out of the new great crested newt (GCN) licensing scheme created by Natural England, Verena formed part of the team sampling waterbodies in the south for their presence or absence of GCN environmental DNA. She has, therefore, gained extensive experience in eDNA sampling, working to precise sampling protocol, and implementing biosecurity measures.
Verena has been responsible for the design and implementation of protected species surveys for a large residential development in Hertfordshire. Her role in the project also saw her contribute to the Ecological Impact Assessment for the proposals.
