Tintagel Castle, a Scheduled Monument, is within the North Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Heritage Coast. It is also within a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Special Area for Conservation. The site supports assemblages of breeding sea birds and nationally scarce maritime grassland and vascular plants.
Nicholas Pearson Associates is delighted to also be appointed by English Heritage to join the Design Team to support the next stages of the project and consenting process for this sensitive location.
We provided baseline survey information and have supported English Heritage and the Jury Panel in the preparation of the project brief. The wider project includes for improvements in the interpretation of the site to improve the visitor experience and the recreation of Dark Age buildings in order to further reveal the fascinating mix of history and legend associated with the dramatic and rugged coastal site.
