Bath Rugby’s Temporary Application Approved

Bath Rugby has been given planning permission for a temporary increase in capacity at its stadium in central Bath, after Bath & North East Somerset Council recently granted approval.

The temporary consent will increase capacity to approximately 14,000, allowing 2000 more spectators to enjoy rugby at the Recreation Ground during the 2014/15 and 2015/16 seasons. The improved facilities for supporters, comprising additional seating and hospitality boxes, will tie into Bath Rugby’s 150th anniversary celebrations in 2015. This is separate from the Club’s emerging future plans to redevelop their facilities.

Nicholas Pearson Associates were pleased to assist by assessing the landscape and visual impacts of the proposals, including through preparing photomontages of the scheme and a Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment report, for submission with the planning application. We also looked into whether Environmental Impact Assessment would be required, and obtained a Council screening opinion to confirm that a full EIA was not necessary.
