As part of the consolidation of their services in the south west, the Land Registry developed a new high quality site for their Information Systems Building. The landmark new building provided a new gateway into the business park.

We were appointed as Landscape Architects and prepared a Landscape Masterplan for the site as part of a detailed planning application. The landscape design provided a dramatic setting for the building and included an informal parkland surround as well as two contrastingly designed courtyards.

Design references for the hard and soft detailed design included the wild landscapes of Dartmoor, visible from the site, and from the new architectural form. Plant species selection included native plantings, recognising the local climatic conditions as well as a variety of choice herbaceous material which provided colour and interest throughout the year.

The project received an excellent BREEAM rating due partly to the use of native plant species within the landscape design.
