EIA Scoping Handbook

Client: Environment Agency

The Environment Agency's guidance 'Environmental Impact Assessment - A Scoping Handbook for Projects' was prepared in 2002 and was seen by the Agency as increasingly out-of-date and in need of updating and improvement.

We were commissioned by the Environment Agency to undertake a review of the scale of investment required to update the Handbook.  Our review assessed the need for updating the guidance in relation to recent and emerging changes to relevant legislation, policy, guidance and practice. It also examined the potential ways of presenting the Handbook's guidance in a more accessible and user-friendly manner.

Our final Report to the Agency will be considered when the EIA Scoping Handbook is next updated.
